5. Attend 50 different music gigs

With the arrival of Covid in 2020 and subsequent lockdowns live music was not an option for two years and I missed it trying to get my live music fix from live albums that bands had recorded and published on Spotify. It just wasn't the same as being there with the atmosphere, although I didn't miss getting shite lager split over me haha!!  But now bands are touring again and its about getting back to going to live music. 🎵

1. Queen and Adam Lambert 2nd June 2022 - OVO HYDRO

An amazing gig with a fantastic homage to Freddie Mercury. Played all the classics and were on stage for over two hours.

2. Gerry Cinnamon 17th July 2022 - HAMPDEN PARK

Probably the best gig I've been to at Hampden. the atmosphere was excellent and the energy that Gerry brought to the stage was amazing. Support bands Vistas, Jake Bugg and Travis helped warm up the crowd but by far the main event was worth every penny of the ticket price. z

3. Australian Pink Floyd - 24th November 2022 - MUSIC HALL ABERDEEN

This was a totally unexpected gig as at 5 o'clock we did not have tickets for this, however our colleague got in touch to say that she had two spare tickets as a couple of her family could not attend. I'd seen them when I was at University with a friend. They were excellent then and still as good now. Sadly due to the ongoing conflict between Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters its unlikely that I'd ever see Pink Floyd perform live but this was excellent. All the classics played and a good night out.

4.  Volbeat - 15th December 2022 - OVO HYDRO

My sister got the tickets for this one as she is a big fan. Before the gig I had listened to a few of their songs such as 'Still counting' but had not really listened to a lot of their stuff. I was pleasantly surprised and have since listened to more of their music. Volbeat were excellent live and although Michael Poulsen had a sore throat as he was recovering from the cold he still put on an amazing show. I'm also not one for support bands and tend not to be a big fan however Skindred (Pic 1) had very good stage presence and got the crowd warmed up and going for the gig. All in all a fantastic night.

5. Rock Orchestra by Candlelight - February 16th 2023 - MUSIC HALL ABERDEEN

This was a bit of a random choice but given how much I like Metallica's S&M albums with the San Francisco symphony orchestra, thought I'd give it a go. This definitely did not disappoint. The musicians were excellent with my own personal favourite of Stairway to Heaven with the iconic solo played on the violin. Wouldn't hesitate to see them again.

6. Roger Waters - 2nd June 2023 - OVO HYDRO

The second time I've seen Roger Waters and likely the closest I'll get to seeing Pink Floyd. A fantastic gig from start to finish coupled with an excellent stage show.

7. Muse - 23rd June 2023 - Bellahouston Park

This is about the 7th or 8th time I've seen Muse and still a great live band although having looked at the set list for the previosu gig, Scottish fans were short changed out of four songs compared to their English counterparts. Plus they never seem to play newborn which is my favourite song. On the plus side they appear to be going back to their angrier roots rather than when they tried to go poppy....

8. Iron Maiden - 26th June 2023 - OVO HYDRO

Fantastic live gig. If you've not seen them before I recommend that you go. Excellent stage show and worked the crowd well.

9. Rammstein 11th July 2023 - PUSKAS AREANA HUNGARY

Having seen Rammstein at Donnington as part of Download Festival, we thought we'd try get tickets but as the UK dates were all Festival tickets then we looked at getting their European Tour. Budapest seemed like an ideal place to visit. The concert itself did not disappoint and could not be any more Rammstein focussed if it tried - pre concert Rammstein music and videos (not in sync I may add); the support act was Abelard a Rammstein piano tribute band and then the main event. Once again an amazing stage show coupled with pyrotechnics and the sound was phenomenal.

10.  Queens of the Stone Age 16th November 2023 - OVO HYDRO

This was the gig that was 20 years in the waiting. That one band I didn't manage to get to see when I was at University despite loving their Songs for the Deaf album. The dates didnt align sadly but when I heard they were announcing a tour and coming to Scotland, then straight ahead with the tickets and the hunt for the presale code. After 4 hours of searching I managed to get the code and the tickets. The show did not disappoint. Josh Homme was a fantastic showman and entertained the crowd amazingly. Even if you're not the biggest fan of their music - I still recommend going to see their live performance.
